A Vocation to the Order of Carmelites – St. Thomas Province, India

The call to priestly and religious life is a sacred invitation that flows entirely from the heart of the Heavenly Father. It is a divine summons to be configured to Christ and to walk faithfully in His footsteps. To those whom God calls, He also gives the grace to respond with wholehearted love, unwavering commitment, and joyful surrender.

This vocation is not merely a personal choice—it is a divine calling that involves transformation, consecration, and mission. It is a setting apart for God and His Kingdom, a life wholly dedicated to what concerns Him most. Sadly, as in the story of the rich young man in the Gospel, many today turn a deaf ear to this sacred call. That is why vocation awareness is vital—only in truly listening can one discern and embrace this path.

As Pope Pius XI beautifully expressed in Ad Catholici Sacerdotii (On the Catholic Priesthood):

“A true priestly religious vocation is not founded merely on inner feelings or pious attraction, but rather on a right intention and a harmonious blend of physical, intellectual, and moral qualities, making one suitable for such a divine calling.”

We, the Order of Carmelites – St. Thomas Province, extend a warm and heartfelt invitation to all young men who feel stirred by the Spirit and desire to offer their lives in service to Christ and His Church.

If you possess a sense of humor, clarity of vision, honesty, emotional resilience, and above all, are seized by a burning desire to follow Christ after the model of the great Prophet Elijah, then perhaps God is calling you.

As Carmelites, we are actively involved in a wide range of ministries:

·         Youth animation and leadership formation

·         Mission and evangelization work

·         Spiritual formation of children

·         Caring for the elderly

·         Retreat centers and spiritual direction

·         Parish and sacramental ministry

·         Evangelization through media and communications

·         Transformative education and social upliftment

Come, discover the joy of a life lived in contemplation, fraternity, and service. Come, follow Christ with the Carmelites.

The harvest is plenty. The laborers are few. Are you ready to say “Yes” to His call?
